IFC is hosting a coaching clinic on January 18 from 9-12. All IFC members who are interested in becoming better at coaching fencers are welcome. The main purpose of the clinic is to develop additional coaches for our beginner classes and intermediate programs. Information about the US Fencing Coaches Association will be provided, along with certification requirements.
The clinic will be led by Bill Winget, IFC Head Coach.
Topics will include:
- Definition of fencing terms
- The coaching methodology/structure for fencing
- Coaching Foil basics
- Coaching Epee basics
- Curriculum overview of the IFC beginner classes
- Games and drills
- Strip Coaching
- US Fencing Coaches Association (USFCA) membership and certification requirements
